Keep it an evening out

Why a free dome still says 18+

Social casino worlds borrow the look, the sound and the pacing of real gambling. Heatherdome Parlour is meant only for adults over the legal gambling age and is aimed at nobody under 18. Age is checked twice: once on the banner that meets you at the gate, and again as a tick you make yourself when the account is opened.

What this hill will never do

• Offer real-money gambling, or advertise it.
• Hand out a prize with real-world value.
• Sell coins, or bolt on in-app purchases.
• Point you at gambling operators or affiliates.
• Run countdowns or streaks that press you to come back.

The honest word about a free dome

A free game can be tuned to feel generous, and it refills your tin for nothing. Real-money games do neither. Doing well up here says nothing whatever about how you would fare with money at stake.

Signs a vigil has gone on too long

• Keeping the watch far longer than you meant to.
• Turning short-tempered once you stop.
• Spinning to get out from under a mood.
• It is eating into sleep, work or the people around you.
• Catching yourself hunting for a real-money version.

Keeping your hand on the crank

• Settle on how long the watch will last before you start.
• Spin by hand and leave autoplay alone.
• Step away from the eyepiece often.
• Clear this site's data to wipe the slate, or block the site in your device settings if you want to stop for good.
